First BYD electric bus assembled at Azerbaijan Energy Automotive Factory was handed over to BakuBus
The first electric bus assembled at Azerbaijan Energy Automotive Factory (AEAF) in the Sumgayit Industrial Park has been officially delivered to BakuBus LLC.
In accordance with the Decree "On Promoting the Use of Electric Vehicles" signed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2023, the production and use of environmentally friendly vehicles is being expanded in the country.
The production process has already begun at the Azerbaijan Energy Automotive Factory (AEAF) located in the Sumgayit Industrial Park, and the first buses have already been assembled using the SKD method.
The event dedicated to the presentation of the first fully electric bus to BakuBus LLC was attended by Deputy Minister of Economy Samad Bashirli, Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lu Mei, BYD General Director Tian Chunlong, BakuBus LLC Director Shahin Hasanov, and other relevant persons.
The speeches emphasized that the project marks the beginning of a new stage in the transport sector, strengthening industrial potential, technology transfer and human capital. It was noted that this is an important part of Azerbaijan's green energy and green transport policy and a successful example of Azerbaijan-China cooperation.
It was reported that the first 12-meter bus produced has a capacity of 82 passengers and can travel 350 km on a single charge. In the future, initiatives will be taken to produce models of various capacities, as well as trucks, utility vehicles and passenger cars in parallel.
These initiatives strengthen Azerbaijan's position in the region in the field of environmentally friendly and sustainable transport. It should be noted that the "Azerbaijan Energy Automotive Factory" was established under the Ministry of Economy at the joint initiative of the Azerbaijan Business Development Fund, "SARDA Group" and "BYD".
